Let’s Make Sure Our Hose Bibs are protected from freeze damage

Every year, Brick Doctor performs countless brick repairs around exterior water spigots (hose bibs) resulting from plumbers having to access and repair those pipes behind the walls due to freeze damage. Especially when temperatures drop into the 20’s or lower, your spigots may be subject to freeze damage.

Please, when icy cold weather is forecasted, protect yourself from costly repairs by covering those spigots.  A quick trip to your garage or to Home Depot or Lowes for a $3.00 spigot cover can easily save you over $500 in plumbing and brick repairs alone, not to mention any resulting water damage!

Plumbers often break brick or destroy them, so we may have to find matching replacements. This picture shows what a typical wall may look like after the bricks have been sawed out to replace the spigot.

So…when you bundle up, remember to cover up!
